Refurbished iPhone vs Used iPhone: What's the Difference?

Many buyers compare refurbished iPhones with used iPhones before deciding which option is right for them. While both can offer savings compared to buying new, there are some important differences.

Refurbished iPhone

  • Inspected, tested, cleaned, and prepared for resale
  • 72-point testing process
  • Minimum 80% battery health
  • Clear grading system
  • 24-month warranty included

Used iPhone (Private seller)

  • Sold in current condition with no standardised testing
  • No formal grading
  • Battery condition unknown
  • No warranty coverage
  • Device history may be unclear

What to Check Before Buying a Refurbished iPhone

Before buying a refurbished iPhone, compare more than just the price. The right choice depends on how you use your phone, how much storage you need, and what level of cosmetic condition you expect.

A cheaper iPhone is not always the better choice if the storage is too small, the condition is unclear, or support after purchase is limited.

Check these details before ordering:

  • iPhone model
  • storage size
  • colour
  • condition grade
  • battery performance
  • camera and display condition
  • network unlocked status
  • warranty period
  • return policy
  • delivery details

How We Prepare Refurbished iPhones for Sale

Every refurbished iPhone at IMRefurbished goes through a detailed testing and preparation process before it is approved for sale. Our goal is simple: to make sure every phone performs as expected before it is offered for sale.

Our process begins with a thorough inspection, where important hardware and software components are assessed. Doing so helps us identify faults or performance issues so that our technicians can correct them.

As part of our 72-point testing process, key areas are reviewed, including battery health, touchscreen responsiveness, speakers, buttons, connectivity, software checks, and other core functions. These checks are designed to help detect even minor issues before a device is listed for sale.

Only devices that meet our testing and quality requirements move forward for resale. This careful approach is part of how IMRefurbished provides professionally tested refurbished iPhones that customers can buy with confidence.

Our testing process includes checks across:

  • Mobile functionality
  • Software and system checks
  • Battery health
  • Display performance
  • Buttons and controls
  • Speakers and audio
  • Connectivity features
  • Core device diagnostics
